With symbolism derived from historical, alchemical imagery, this painting portrays the fermentation segment of a friend’s spiritual journey. The oil rainbow, peacock tail and lightning represent the stage in alchemy when chemical processes produce multi-colored results. It is also the point in which a newly reconjoined spirit reassess their place in the universe. The peacock in her mouth represents her taking on the ability to conquer poison, as venomous snakes are commonly their prey. The spirits surrounding the portrait convey a connection to the ethereal world.
