Swamp Thing
Project type
Swamp Thing
Date
June 2025
Location
Hollywood, FL
Swamp Thing was inspired by a conversation with the artist and conservationist, Kim Heise. It depicts several of the creatures that
inhabit the everglades. Palmetto leaves dominate the canvas, and hiding amongst the fronds are the ghostly figures of panthers. These animals are rarely seen but are a key component in the biosystem. Under blue light, the figure of an alligator is dominant as these are the animals most closely associated with the everglades. Finally in only a thin line that scarcely shows up is a stylized Swamp Ape or the
Everglades version of the Sasquatch.
